About Us
My personal “love” affair with the breed began some 30 years ago when I purchased my first boxer a 6 month old Red and White dog called “Taj” (Siaradus Taj Mahal) I was introduced to the Boxer breed and the dog showing world in Hawkes Bay where I then lived. My wife (Ludene) and I live in South Auckland with our two daughters along with our extended family which includes four Boxers, Pearl, Tyson, Bree and our most recent addition Zak. Taj was a great mate and companion with the most marvellous and kind temperament and from that time to this I have never regretted my choice of purchasing a Boxer Dog and Taj will always have a very special place in my heart and my memory.
When I first met my then wife to be (Ludene) it was a case of “love me love my dog” and thankfully this has very much been the case as the “Boxer” breed has continued to be part of our married life.
Over the years together we have had in our home Bella (Lamedos Irish Eyes) whom we brought back with us from Australia a delightful Brindle and White Bitch from whom we had two litters and was the foundation of our Kennel Name which is a combination of the name of our son Gareth and of course Bella – Garabella. After Bella left us there was a time lapse before we could face owning another Boxer, good old time, however, healed the wounds as they say it does and then along came Tess (Sanlian What A Hit) and Zeus/Teddy (Sanlian Razamataz) unfortunately due to a most dreadful accident we lost Zeus/Teddy, however, we still had the lovely Tess who stayed on with us and produced three lovely litters and to her credit is the foundation bitch for most of the Boxer family we have living with us at home today. Tess was one of those “one in a million” mums who in the whelping box could never be faulted she had the most charming and unwavering temperament and never had a cross word for anyone visiting in our home, a trait she has generously passed on through her progeny.
Over the past few years my wife and I have met and been helped to get back in to the confirmation show world by some truly wonderful friends and acquaintances and today we are regular exhibitors at our local Auckland confirmation shows and as time and circumstances dictate we also travel to some out of town shows.
At “Garabella Kennels” we are always excited for what the future holds in store for the Boxer world, as we, along with our Boxer breeding colleagues strive to maintain and improve on our beloved breed.
